Lausitzer Findlingspark Nochten

Lausitzer Findlingspark Nochten is a unique garden located in Boxberg, in the Saxon part of Lusatia, just a few kilometers from the Polish border. On the site of a former lignite mine, over 7,000 erratic boulders (glacial erratics) have been gathered on an area of about 20 hectares. These boulders were brought from Scandinavia by glaciers thousands of years ago and were uncovered during mining operations. The park, opened in 2003, is a model example of post-mining land reclamation. A 3-km walking trail leads through a hilly landscape with ponds, streams, and cascades, accompanied by nearly 100,000 plants – perennials, shrubs, and trees. The park is fully wheelchair accessible, pet-friendly, and stroller-friendly. On-site facilities include a café, restaurant, and toilets, including accessible ones. Audio guides and guided tours are available. The park is open seasonally from spring to autumn, daily from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM (until 5:00 PM in November). Tickets can be paid in cash or by card, and parking costs €2. It is an ideal destination for families, seniors, and anyone interested in geology and nature.
