Mogielica
Mogielica (1170 m above sea level) is the highest peak of the Beskid Wyspowy range, often called the Queen of the region. It rises above the village of Słopnice in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship and is part of the Crown of Polish Mountains. The summit is forested, but a new 23-meter metal observation tower was built there in 2022, offering panoramic views of the Beskid Wyspowy, Beskid Sądecki, Gorce, Pieniny, and even the Tatra Mountains. Just below the summit lies Polana Stumorgowa, considered the most beautiful glade in the Beskids, perfect for a picnic. Numerous hiking trails lead to Mogielica. The most popular and easy route is the green trail from Rydz-Śmigły Pass in Chyszówki (about 1 h 40 min). The shortest, though without views, is the green trail from Wyrębiska (about 1.5 h). A 21-km cycling route circles the mountain, which in winter becomes a cross-country skiing trail. Access to the tower and trails is free, with free parking available at the trailheads. Mogielica is an excellent destination for families with children, couples, groups of friends, and anyone seeking active outdoor recreation.
