Ozimek

📍 Ozimek, PL🕒 4+ hours

Ozimek is a small town in the Opole Voivodeship, about 20 km east of Opole, near the Turawskie Lakes and the JuraPark Krasiejów. Its main attraction is the world's oldest iron suspension bridge, built in 1827 from iron smelted in the local steelworks. The bridge, spanning the Mała Panew River, is open only to pedestrians. Next to it is the Museum of Metallurgy of the Mała Panew Valley, which tells the story of the Mała Panew Steelworks – the oldest operating steelworks in Poland, active since the mid-18th century. The museum displays historical products, including cannons and gun barrels. Also worth visiting is the neoclassical Evangelical church from 1820, designed by Karl F. Schinkel. Nearby attractions include Lake Turawskie, perfect for walks and water recreation, and JuraPark Krasiejów with life-sized dinosaur models and the Park of Science and Human Evolution. In the museum's basement, the Muzeum Smaków restaurant serves local cuisine. Ozimek is ideal for families and enthusiasts of history and technology.
