Supraśl

📍 Supraśl, PLFree🕒 4+ hours

Supraśl is a picturesque town in the Podlaskie Voivodeship, situated on the Supraśl River. Its main attraction is the Monastery of the Annunciation of the Most Holy Mother of God and St. John the Theologian, one of five male Orthodox monasteries in Poland. Founded in 1501, it quickly became an important cultural center, renowned for copying books and housing a valuable library that included the 11th-century Supraśl Codex. The monastery complex houses the Supraska Academy, the Icon Museum in the Opat's Palace, and the Museum of Printing and Papermaking. A walk along the riverside boulevard leads to a viewpoint offering a fairy-tale panorama of the white church. In the town center, you can see 19th-century wooden weavers' cottages, the Bucholtz Palace (now an art high school), the Gardener's House, and the modernist People's House from 1934. Nearby attractions include Kruszyniany and Bohoniki with mosques of Polish Tatars, and Krynki. Supraśl is ideal for a half-day trip for families, couples, and groups, with cafes, restaurants, and easy access by public transport.
