Suwalski Landscape Park

📍 Turtul, PLFree🕒 4+ hoursSeasonal

Suwalski Landscape Park, located in northeastern Poland near the village of Turtul, is the oldest landscape park in the country, established to protect a unique post-glacial landscape. Thousands of years ago, the retreating glacier carved lakes, formed hills and moraines, and left behind erratic boulders from Scandinavia. The main attraction is Lake Hańcza, the deepest lake in Poland (108.5 m), protected as a nature reserve. A hiking and biking trail runs along its eastern shore, with two unsupervised beaches (Błaskowizna and Stara Hańcza) for relaxation. Other viewpoints include Góra Cisowa (called the Suwałki Fuji) and Oz Turtulski, offering panoramas of the Czarna Hańcza pond. On Góra Zamkowa, situated among four lakes, lies a medieval Yotvingian stronghold. The park offers numerous hiking, cycling, and kayaking trails. In Turtul, the park headquarters houses a tourist information point and an educational path. Admission is free, and facilities include parking, toilets, a café, and a restaurant. It is ideal for families, nature lovers, and active tourists.
