Szklarka Valley
Szklarka Valley is a picturesque nature reserve located in the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland, near the village of Szklary in Lesser Poland. Although the valley floor is crossed by an asphalt road, the most interesting views and rock formations are found on the slopes and the plateau. The main attraction is the red hiking trail that forms a loop around the valley. The eastern section runs through a protected beech forest, while the western part offers panoramic views of Jurassic meadows and fields. Along the trail, you will find impressive limestone rock groups such as Witkowe Skały (including Wielka Witkowa, Muminek, Sokolnik, and Ptasia Turnia) and Chochołowe Skały with a characteristic cross on top. Witkowe Skały are popular among climbers. In the area, you can also see the Brodło rock with a cross and the fish ponds in Dubie, built in 1850 by the Potocki family. Szklarka Valley is perfect for a full-day hike for families, couples, and groups of friends. Admission is free, and parking is available near the Church of St. Maximilian Kolbe in Szklary.
