Szymbark

Szymbark is a small village in southeastern Lesser Poland, located about 6 km southwest of Gorlice, in the valley of the Ropa River. It is surrounded by the hills of the Low Beskids, making it a great base for hiking. The main attraction is a Renaissance castle from the 16th century, a former fortified manor of the Gładysz family, which after renovation in 2010 was opened to visitors. It houses a branch of the Dwory Karwacjanów i Gładyszów Museum. Nearby are a wooden manor house from 1920 and the Open-Air Museum of Pogórze Village, founded in 1987 and named after Prof. Roman Reinfuss. The museum features a 19th-century village with original cottages and compares the cultures of Pogórzanie, Lemkos, Sącz Lachs, and Spisz inhabitants. In summer, folk events are held. Both attractions can be visited with a combined ticket. The site is ideal for regional tourism enthusiasts, families, and groups.
