Valley of Palaces and Gardens

📍 Kotlina Jeleniogórska, PL🕒 4+ hoursSeasonal

The Valley of Palaces and Gardens is a unique tourist route in the Kotlina Jeleniogórska region of Lower Silesia, Poland. Spanning about 100 km², it features dozens of residences – castles, palaces, and manor houses from various eras, surrounded by picturesque gardens and parks. Many of these, neglected after the war, are now gradually being restored to their former glory. The valley is naturally bounded by the Kaczawskie Mountains, the Karkonosze, the Izerskie Mountains, and the Rudawy Janowickie. In 2011, the area was listed as a Historic Monument. Notable sites include the palaces in Łomnica, Wojanów, and Wojanów-Bobrów. In Łomnica, the Baroque palace and the Widow's House now house a hotel and exhibition space. Wojanów, after thorough renovation, impresses with its Neo-Gothic architecture and a luxury hotel set in a landscape park. The route also offers other attractions, such as the historic towns of Kowary and Jelenia Góra, unusual churches, and Tyrolean houses. It is ideal for families, couples, and groups, with a recommended visit duration of at least half a day. Cafés and restaurants are available seasonally, and public transport access is possible.
