Zwierzyniec

📍 Zwierzyniec, PLFree🕒 4+ hours

Zwierzyniec is a picturesque town in the Lublin Voivodeship, located 30 km from Zamość and about 95 km from Lublin. It is the heart of the Roztocze region and an ideal place for relaxation away from big cities. The main attraction is the Baroque Church on the Water (St. John of Nepomuk), built in 1741–1747 on an island in a pond, featuring 18th-century polychromes by Łukasz Smuglewicz and a miraculous painting of Our Lady of Częstochowa. Nearby stands the unique Grasshopper Monument, commemorating the fight against a locust plague in 1711. The Roztocze National Park offers the Echo Ponds with a sandy beach, piers, and a viewing platform, as well as the Rybakówka observation tower and an enclosure for Polish Konik horses. The Educational and Museum Centre of the park presents the region's flora and fauna with an audio guide. The historic Zwierzyniec Brewery, founded in 1806, retains its original buildings and offers tastings of local beer. A visit takes at least 4 hours, and entry to the park and most attractions is free.
