Kłodzko
Kłodzko is one of the oldest towns in Lower Silesia, situated in the picturesque Kłodzko Valley on the Nysa Kłodzka River. It received city rights around 1275 and flourished in the 16th century. Today, it boasts a wealth of historic monuments, including the late Gothic parish church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary with valuable furnishings, such as the 14th-century Madonna of Kłodzko. Dominating the town is the impressive Kłodzko Fortress from the 17th–18th centuries, covering over 30 hectares. Beneath the town, an approximately 600-meter-long Underground Tourist Route reveals former cellars and corridors. The Gothic St. John's Bridge over the Młynówka canal, adorned with sculptures, is also noteworthy. The old town with its narrow streets and green boulevards invites leisurely strolls. The surrounding area offers numerous hiking and cycling trails, as well as ski slopes. Kłodzko is an ideal destination for both history enthusiasts and active travelers.
