Babia Góra, also known as Diablak, is the highest peak of the Beskid Żywiecki range (1725 m above sea level) and the tallest mountain in Poland outside the Tatra Mountains. Located near Zawoja, it features a unique landscape with dwarf pine and changeable weather, earning it the nicknames Kapryśnica (Capricious) or Matka Niepogód (Mother of Storms). From the summit, visitors enjoy spectacular views of the Orawa-Nowy Targ Basin and the Tatra Mountains, including Gerlach. It is part of the Crown of Polish Mountains and attracts hiking enthusiasts. Trails, such as the green trail from Zawoja Markowa, lead via the Markowe Szczawiny PTTK Shelter and Brona Pass. The ascent takes several hours, rewarding hikers with breathtaking panoramas and a unique atmosphere. Due to harsh conditions, warm clothing and preparation for changing weather are recommended.
