The Na Policy Nature Reserve, named after Professor Zenon Klemensiewicz, is located in Zawoja, Lesser Poland Voivodeship, on the northern slope of Mount Polica (1369 m above sea level) in the Polica Range of the Żywiec Beskids. Established in 1972, it covers over 58 hectares and protects a natural spruce forest of the upper montane zone. The reserve commemorates Professor Zenon Klemensiewicz, a distinguished linguist from the Jagiellonian University, who died in a plane crash on the slopes of Polica on 2 April 1969. Within the reserve lies Oblica Cave, 21 meters deep. A green hiking trail crosses the area, and the PTTK shelter on Hala Krupowa is nearby. On the northern slope, a memorial marks the site of the LOT plane crash. The reserve hosts many protected plant species, including forest barrenwort, mountain scurvygrass, spurge laurel, stag's-horn clubmoss, Swiss pine, and dwarf mountain pine. Fauna includes capercaillie, three-toed woodpecker, Carpathian ground beetle, red deer, roe deer, badger, mountain and common shrew, and occasionally wolf, lynx, and brown bear. From the summit area and surrounding glades, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the Beskids, Tatras, and Orava region. Entry is free, but visitors must stay on marked trails.
