Chełmsko Śląskie

Chełmsko Śląskie is a picturesque village in Lower Silesia, close to the Czech border, known for its rich history and charming architecture. Though officially a village, it boasts a large market square surrounded by Baroque and Classicist townhouses with arcades, giving it a distinctly urban feel. In the past, it thrived on linen weaving, which funded the construction of these elegant buildings in the 17th and 18th centuries. At the southern end of the square stands the Baroque Church of the Holy Family, beyond which gentle green hills offer lovely views and walking paths. The main attraction is a unique row of wooden weavers' houses on Sądecka Street, known as the 'Twelve Apostles,' though only eleven remain today. Built in 1707, they feature arcades and steep shingled roofs, creating a picturesque sight. This tranquil spot is perfect for families, couples, and groups seeking history, architecture, and peaceful landscapes.
