Chełmsko Śląskie

Chełmsko Śląskie is a picturesque village in the Lubawka commune, Lower Silesia, near the Czech border. Despite its official village status, it boasts a large market square lined with Baroque and Classicist tenement houses with arcades, giving it a town-like feel. The settlement has a rich history tied to linen weaving – in the 17th and 18th centuries, local merchants grew wealthy from the linen trade and built impressive buildings. The most notable landmark is a complex of wooden weavers' houses from 1707, known as the 'Twelve Apostles' (now eleven houses), featuring arcades and steep shingle roofs.
