Museum of Nikifor in Krynica-Zdrój
The Museum of Nikifor in Krynica-Zdrój is located in the historic blue villa 'Romanówka' on the main promenade of the spa town. It is dedicated to the life and work of Nikifor Krynicki, a renowned naive painter who was long considered an eccentric. The museum displays his drawings, pastels, and paintings – mainly landscapes with a fairy-tale, slightly surreal quality. The exhibition also includes photographs documenting his life, his painting tools, favorite radio, and prayer book. Highlights are the stamps he used to sign his works and begging letters written on his behalf. It is an excellent place for a first encounter with Nikifor's art or to deepen your knowledge. After the visit, you can follow in his footsteps to the monument near the Józef spring and the cemetery where he is buried. The museum is family-friendly, with a café and gift shop. Open Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, weekends from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
