Easter Palm Competition in Lipnica Murowana
The Easter Palm Competition in Lipnica Murowana is an annual event held on Palm Sunday in the market square of Lipnica Murowana, Lesser Poland. Organized for 58 years, it attracts crowds of locals and tourists, as well as politicians, becoming a landmark of the town. The main attraction is the giant palms, which can reach over 30 meters in height (record: 35 m). The palms are handmade according to strict rules: a wooden pole core, woven with wicker or boxwood, without mechanical assistance. Erecting them requires the cooperation of a dozen men and engineering skill. The event is accompanied by an Easter fair offering local products, handicrafts, decorations, and traditional linden tea 'Lipnicka Lipina'. It is a great opportunity for families and anyone wanting to experience the holiday atmosphere.
