Table Mountains
The Table Mountains are a unique mountain range in the Sudetes, on the border of Poland and the Czech Republic, famous for their flat sandstone summits. They are located near the village of Karłów, which serves as an excellent base for exploration. The highest peak is Szczeliniec Wielki (905 m above sea level), reached by 665 steps carved into the rock. At the summit, there is a mountain shelter with a viewing terrace and café. Another attraction is the Błędne Skały (Errant Rocks) – a rock labyrinth where scenes from 'The Chronicles of Narnia' were filmed. It is open from May to October. Also worth visiting are the Skalne Grzyby (Rock Mushrooms) – a free attraction with free parking, featuring rock formations such as the Tiered Mushroom Castle and the Llama's Head. The walk takes about 3 hours. Fort Karola is a viewpoint accessible after a short walk, offering a panorama of Szczeliniec Wielki. The Pasterka shelter, located in the heart of the mountains, offers cozy accommodation and meals. The Table Mountains are family-friendly, with relatively easy trails. They can be visited year-round, though some attractions are seasonal. Nearby spa towns include Kudowa-Zdrój and Duszniki-Zdrój.
