Rynek Lanckorona

The market square in Lanckorona is a picturesque square with a medieval layout, located in the Beskid Mały and Makowski region. It is known for its 19th-century wooden architecture, rebuilt after a great fire in 1869. Characteristic are the arcaded houses with shingle roofs and ornate porches. The square measures 90 by 110 meters and is considered one of the steepest market squares on the Amber Trail. The best preserved sections are the eastern frontage and the streets Świętokrzyska, Zamkowa, Krakowska, and Piłsudskiego. The square houses the Antoni Krajewski Regional Chamber and the Marek Grechuta Well. Annual events include the Easter Fair, Midsummer Fair, and the Angel in the Town festival. Lanckorona is called the Town of Angels – a contemporary angel sculpture by Enrico Muscetta stands on the square.
