Statek-muzeum „Sołdek”
The museum ship "Sołdek" is a unique monument of maritime engineering, permanently moored in Gdańsk at ul. Ołowianka 9-13. It is the world's only preserved steam-powered coal and ore carrier, and the first full-sea vessel built in Poland after World War II. In service from 1949 to 1981, it completed 1,479 voyages, carrying over 3.5 million tons of coal and iron ore. Visitors can explore the original riveted-welded hull, four cargo holds, loading gear, crew quarters, and a fully equipped engine room. Below deck, a modern exhibition titled "Sołdek and His Times" showcases the history of Polish shipbuilding and maritime trade in the second half of the 20th century. The ship is accessible to people with disabilities, and a visit with an audio guide or guided tour takes 1–3 hours. Amenities include lockers, toilets, bike parking, and card payment. It is a great attraction for families, school groups, seniors, and anyone interested in maritime history.
