Dolina Chochołowska

Dolina Chochołowska is the largest valley in the Tatra Mountains, located in Witów within Tatra National Park, managed by Wspólnota Leśna. This family-friendly destination offers stroller-accessible paths and shaded areas, making it ideal for visitors of all ages. The valley features a 4-kilometer deep gorge with narrow passages known as 'gates,' alongside a historic wooden chapel built for the film 'Potop,' still standing today. Entry is free, as Wspólnota Leśna does not charge fees. The Polana Chochołowska area, home to a PTTK mountain hut established in the 1950s, serves as a popular base for hikers. Pope John Paul II, formerly Karol Wojtyła, visited this valley multiple times, and in 1983, as Pope, met Lech Wałęsa at the hut. The valley's natural beauty combined with its cultural significance makes it a must-visit spot. A visit typically takes 1–3 hours, perfect for a relaxed exploration. Covered trails and gentle paths ensure comfort for families and those with strollers.
