Jelenia Góra
Jelenia Góra is a picturesque city located in the heart of the Jelenia Góra Valley, surrounded by the Karkonosze, Izera Mountains and Rudawy Janowickie. Its centuries-old tradition and numerous monuments attract visitors year-round. The Old Town, with its Main Square lined by Baroque and Classicist tenement houses with arcades and an 18th-century town hall, is the cultural and social hub. The town hall tower offers a panoramic view of the city and the Karkonosze Mountains. In the Cieplice-Zdrój district, the oldest Polish spa, hot springs were discovered as early as 1175. Today, visitors can enjoy the modern Cieplice Thermal Baths with thermal waters reaching 87°C, as well as sanatoriums offering medical treatments. Sobieszów features the ruins of the 14th-century Chojnik Castle and the Karkonosze National Park Nature Education Centre. Jagniątków, located in the Karkonosze, is known for the Gerhart Hauptmann Municipal Museum, dedicated to the Nobel Prize-winning writer. Another attraction is the Time Gates – underground air-raid shelters from World War II, housing Poland's largest Tesla coil. Jelenia Góra is an excellent base for mountain hiking and cycling, and a place where history and nature create a unique atmosphere.
