Jawor

📍 Jawor, PL🕒 4+ hours€€ Moderate

Jawor is a charming town in Lower Silesia, located between Legnica and Bolków, on the Nysa Szalona River. Its main attraction is the Church of Peace of the Holy Spirit, a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is one of three Peace Churches built after the Thirty Years' War, constructed in one year from perishable materials – wood, clay, and straw. The interior impresses with its Baroque white-gold-blue decoration, richly adorned galleries, organ, and altar. Also worth visiting is the Regional Museum in a former Bernardine monastery, featuring exhibitions on the town's history, sacred art, archaeology, and crafts. The Piast Castle from the 13th century, though neglected, offers a viewing tower with a panorama of the town and the Kaczawskie Foothills. The Market Square boasts a Neo-Renaissance town hall, and other landmarks include the Gothic St. Martin's Church, city walls, and the Municipal Theatre. Jawor is perfect for history, architecture, and culture enthusiasts, as well as families and groups.
