Jaworska kapsuła czasu

📍 Jawor, PL🕒 Up to 1 hour

The Jawor Time Capsule is a remarkable discovery found in the tower of St. Martin's Church in Jawor. During the renovation of a copper sphere in 2024, two capsules were uncovered: one wooden and one brass. A special commission opened them on November 4, 2024. The brass capsule contained a document dated November 11, 1831, describing repairs after a hailstorm that damaged the roof and stained glass. The wooden capsule held two documents: one from 1894 about the capsule's placement and another describing the contents of the 1831 capsule. Also found were a copy of "Tygodnik Powszechny" from 1949 and documents from 1949 and 1977. These items were displayed on November 10, 2024, the eve of the city's patron saint, St. Martin's Day. After examination, they were returned to the sphere along with contemporary objects like a rosary, a commemorative coin, a newspaper, and a letter. History enthusiasts can also visit the Regional Museum in Jawor, which itself is a kind of time capsule.
