Kościół św. Marcina w Jaworze

St. Martin's Church in Jawor is a Gothic hall church built between 1330 and 1370 from rubble stone and sandstone blocks. It is located in the city center, right next to the Market Square. Originally intended to have two towers, only one was completed – the current tower dates from 1535 after the previous one collapsed. From 1526 to 1650 the church served as a Protestant place of worship before returning to Catholic hands. The interior features cross-ribbed vaults, Baroque statues of saints on the pillars, and a painting by Michael Willmann, known as the Silesian Rembrandt. The organ gallery houses a 32-stop organ built in 1732 and rebuilt in Romantic style in 1878–1880. In 1981 a Gothic wall painting was discovered in the south aisle, and the church retains Gothic sculptures including a 14th-century figure of St. Martin. It is one of Lower Silesia's most valuable monuments and a must-see for Gothic architecture enthusiasts.
