Jawor

Jawor is a charming town in Lower Silesia, best known for the UNESCO-listed Church of Peace. This 17th-century half-timbered building impresses with its baroque interior and is one of Europe's most valuable religious monuments. Strolling through the market square, visitors can admire the neo-Renaissance town hall with the largest secular stained-glass windows in Silesia, and the city theatre. It is also worth visiting the Gothic Church of St. Martin with its monumental baroque altar, as well as the 13th-century Piast Castle, whose observation tower offers a panoramic view of the Sudetes and the Karkonosze mountains. The Regional Museum, housed in a former Bernardine monastery, displays exhibits documenting the area's history. Jawor is surrounded by green areas ideal for hiking and cycling, especially in the Kaczawskie Foothills and Chełmy Landscape Park. The town hosts regular events such as the Jawor Peace Concerts and the Bread and Gingerbread Festival in August. The tourist information office at Rynek 3 is open from Wednesday to Sunday, 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM.
