Fort Zachodni Museum of Fortress History

📍 Świnoujście, PL🕒 1–3 hours€€ ModerateSeasonal

The Fort Zachodni Museum of Fortress History is located in Świnoujście at 1 Jachtowa Street. It is housed in a former fort built between 1856 and 1861 as an artillery redoubt, later expanded into a heavy coastal battery surrounded by a water moat. The site witnessed a turbulent history – it hosted German batteries during both World Wars and was occupied by the Soviets after 1945. Today, the fort is open to visitors as a monument of military architecture. The museum displays artifacts found in and around the fort, telling the story of the Świnoujście fortress. Guided tours are available, and there is a café and a gift shop on site. It is an interesting destination for history enthusiasts, fortification lovers, and families. The fort is open seasonally; current information can be found on the website or by calling 603 597 645.
