Underground City on Wolin Island
The Underground City on Wolin Island in Świnoujście is a former secret military complex from the Cold War era. Built in the 1930s as a German coastal artillery battery, after WWII it was taken over by the Polish Army and converted into a reserve command post. It was from here that an order could have been given leading to nuclear annihilation. Today visitors can explore underground corridors, shelters, and command rooms. Tours are guided only, with fixed entry times: daily at 10:30 AM, 12:30 PM, 2:00 PM, 3:00 PM, and 4:30 PM. The attraction is suitable for everyone – families, groups, and individual tourists. Payment can be made in cash (PLN, EUR) or by card. Dogs are allowed. German-language tours are available on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 1:15 PM (guide contact: +49 1521 7940305). No reservation required. Visit duration is 1 to 3 hours.
